Pakistan Weather Forecast: Rain Expected From September 12 to 17

Pakistan is expected to experience a fresh spell of rain and thunderstorms from September 12 to 17, with temperatures also likely to fall during the forecast period, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The Met Office said monsoon currents are penetrating the upper parts of the country, while a westerly wave is expected to enter the upper regions during the weekend and strengthen on September 14.

Rain Forecast for Punjab

Several Punjab cities are expected to receive rain, wind and thunderstorms from the evening of September 12 through September 17.

The forecast includes Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding areas.

PMD has also warned that heavy rainfall could cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot and Faisalabad between September 14 and 17.

Rain Expected in KP, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan

Kashmir is expected to receive rain, wind and thunderstorms, with isolated hailstorms and heavy showers possible in several districts.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rainfall is expected in areas including Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Abbottabad, Mansehra and Dera Ismail Khan.

Rain and isolated heavy rainfall are also expected in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, including Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Diamir and Astore.

Sindh and Balochistan Weather

Most parts of Sindh are expected to remain hot and humid. However, rain, thunderstorms and isolated heavy rainfall are forecast for areas including Karachi, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Thatta and Badin from September 13 to 16.

Karachi may also receive thunderstorms and light rain between September 14 and 16.

Balochistan will generally remain hot and humid, although rainfall is expected in Zhob, Barkhan and Musakhel from September 13 to 16.

PMD Issues Flood and Landslide Warning

The weather department has warned of possible flash floods in local streams and nullahs in parts of KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

There is also a risk of landslides in hilly areas of KP, GB, Murree, Galliyat and Kashmir.

PMD advised tourists and travellers to remain cautious and urged farmers to plan crop-related activities according to the weather conditions.
