Marvel Studios has officially chosen Kit Connor to play Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops, in the upcoming X-Men reboot. Directed by Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts), the film marks the formal integration of the main X-Men roster into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Connor, best known for his breakout role in Netflix's Heartstopper as well as featured roles in Alex Garland's Warfare and A24's Elden Ring, was selected by Schreier and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige following an extensive audition process over the summer.

A New Tactical Leader for the MCU
First introduced in 1963 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Scott Summers serves as the field leader and tactical mind of the X-Men. Unable to control his destructive optic energy blasts without a specialized ruby-quartz visor, Cyclops is one of the foundational figures of mutant lore.
The character was previously played by James Marsden in the 2000s X-Men films and Tye Sheridan in the prequel series. While Marsden is set to reprise his legacy version in the multiverse storyline of Avengers: Doomsday, Connor will portray the primary, mainline MCU iteration of Scott Summers.
At 22 years old, Connor’s casting signals that Marvel is establishing a younger core group of X-Men, setting up long-term narrative arcs for future phases.
